Biologist, PhD in Biology

Scientific/Research title

Senior Research Associate

Education

Earned Bachelor’s degree in Biology (module Molecular Biology and Physiology) and Master’s degree in Biology (study programme Molecular Biology and Physiology, module Human Molecular Genetics) at University of Belgrade-Faculty of Biology. Defended her doctoral dissertation in 2017 at the same Faculty (study programme Molecular Biology, module Molecular Biology of Eukaryotes).

Research field

Member of a research group involved in the fundamental and applied research on metabolic processes and oxidative stress. Her research interests are focused on the role of non-coding RNAs in human disease associated with metabolic dysregulation and oxidative stress, with an emphasis on the interconnection between the activities of long non-coding RNA and microRNA in diabetes.

Professional engagement

Leader of the project team in a multilateral cooperation project in the Danube region, on the project “The analysis of nucleic acids, proteins and metabolites as potential circulating biomarkers of gestational diabetes” (2020-2022, No. 337-00-00322/2019-09/151), project of bilateral cooperation with partners from the Slovak Academy of Sciences: “Study of extracellular vesicles glycosylation in diabetes by advanced analytical approaches for better diagnosis and treatment” (2024-2025) and project financed by the Center for the Promotion of Science: “Escape Classroom” (2026). Member of the research team within the project of national Science Fund (as part of the program for financing cooperation with diaspora): “Mass spectrometry analysis of serum transferrin in patients with an increased oxidative stress” (2020-2022). Engaged as a team member in a project of bilateral cooperation with partners from the Slovak Academy of Sciences: “New lectins for glycan analysis with diagnostic, biomedicine and biotechnology applications”(2022-2023). Management Committee member in COST action CA 22114 “Maternal Perinatal Stress and Adverse Outcomes in the Offspring: Maximising infants’ development” (TREASURE, 2023-2027). Involved as a team member in COST action: CA21115 “Iron-sulphur (FeS) clusters: from chemistry to immunology-FeSImmChemNet” (2022-2025). From 2013 to 2018, was engaged in the project „Analysis of structural genomic changes as diagnostic and prognostic parameters of human diseases” (MESTD, No. 173016, project leader prof. dr Dušanka Savić-Pavićević, at Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade). In a period 2018-2019 was engaged in the project “Structural characteristics of the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) binding proteins and receptors, their interactions with other physiological molecules and alterations in metabolic disorders” (MESTD, No. 173042, project leader dr Olgica Nedić, Institute for the Application of Nuclear Energy, University of Belgrade).
